From September 27, 2018, to March 3, 2019, Appealing to Nose: Secrets of Smell and Culture in Fragrance invites visitors to explore the world of scent at the Guangdong Museum. Timed to coincide with the Lunar New Year season, the five-month exhibition blends natural science with traditional Chinese culture, guiding visitors through the processes of “detecting,” “seeking,” and “using” fragrance. The exhibition features three multisensory scent-experience zones, introduces the science of olfaction in animals and humans, and highlights aromatic plant and animal materials. Through exquisite artifacts and immersive design, visitors can appreciate the unique charm and enduring legacy of China’s fragrance culture.
