Let’s Play: Toys Hidden in the Museum exhibition is jointly organized by the Guangdong Museum in collaboration with the Chinese National Museum of Ethnology, the China National Museum of Women and Children, the Yunnan Nationalities Museum, the Qinghai Provincial Museum, the Guangzhou DSPPA Audio Museum, the Xiamen University Library, and other institutions. The exhibition features over 240 sets of children’s toys and objects. Through the lenses of sound, form, ingenuity, games, and entertainment, it presents the diverse appearances of toys across history. These objects transcend time and space, awaken childhood memories, and together tell the wondrous story of humanity’s journey of enlightenment. Beyond evoking deep personal resonance, they also reveal profound cultural meanings born from human creativity.
The exhibition also offers a range of immersive and interactive educational activities. Families can join toy-making creative workshops, while three special sessions tailored respectively for audiences born in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s invite visitors to rediscover their childhood memories. Exhibition-themed cultural and creative products combine commemorative value with playful charm, extending the concept of “toys” into the visitor’s takeaway experience. In terms of themed food, visitors may enjoy creative desserts such as tangram-inspired treats and cotton-candy ducklings, along with beverages that capture the whimsical style of the exhibition—allowing them to savor and preserve cherished childhood memories.
