“焦点:18-19世纪中西方视觉艺术的调试” 学术研讨会征文通知

  征文背景:

  广东省博物馆主办、银川当代美术馆协办的 “焦点:18-19世纪中西方视觉艺术的调试”特展将于2022年11月-2023年3月在广东省博物馆举办。此次展览旨在从艺术交流史的角度,解读18至19世纪中西艺术对话的价值和影响。为此,展览方诚邀国内外专家学者一起共襄盛举,进行学术交流和研讨,共同推动该学术领域的前沿研究。研究成果将以中英文双语形式结集出版,分别发行。

  主题说明:

  18-19世纪,广州是世界贸易网络中的重要节点,也是中西方艺术文化交汇的门户。对于这段艺术史的梳理,有助于对视觉文化全球化的议题进行有效和启迪性的思考。伴随“一带一路”和“人类命运共同体”发展目标的提出,中西艺术交流史的价值日益突出。历史能够告诉未来:交流对于文化促进有着不可估量的巨大作用。

  论题范围:

  艺术生态研究:政治史、经济史、文化史、艺术史

  艺术本体研究:理念、技法、材料、范式

  艺术家个案研究:郎世宁、史贝霖、钱纳利、林呱等

  ·外销绘画的经济生态

  ·欧洲“中国风”艺术与中国外销艺术品之间的关系

  论文篇数:15至20篇

  论文篇幅:8000-10000字,稿酬从优。

  与会人数:鉴于疫情等不确定因素,线下不超过10人,线上采用录播方式与会。

  “Focus: Acclimation of Art between China and the West in the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries.”Call for papers

  Context:

  Guangdong Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art of Yinchuan will host a special exhibition “Focus: Acclimation of Art between China and the West in the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries” in Guangdong Museum, from November 2022 to March 2023. The exhibition aims to illustrate the value and influence of the cultural dialogue between China and the West through communicative art history. Therefore the museums would like to invite scholars to join research discussion and publish papers for further academic exploration. The research results will be published in two versions of anthologies, in Chinese and English, respectively.

  Research:

  In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Guangzhou was one of the most important harbours in global trade and the portal of cultural exchange. In-depth research on its art history will significantly contribute to practical and insightful thinking on the globalisation of visual culture. Since goals of development such as “One Belt One Road” and “a human community with a shared future” have been proposed, the value of communicative art history between China and the West is becoming more and more in research focus. Its history can inform the future: Communication has an invaluable contribution to cultural development.

  ·Ecology of Art: Political History, Economic History, Cultural History and Art History

  ·Ontology of Art: Concepts, skills, materials and iconographs

  ·Case studies: Giuseppe Castiglione, George Chinnery, Spoilum, Lam Qua and so forth

  Potential titles :

  ·The role of paintings in cultural communication between China and the West in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries

  ·The economic ecology of Chinese export paintings

  ·The relationship between Chinoiserie and Chinese export art

  ·The interactions between the imperial court in Beijing and the Hongs in Guangzhou

  ·Lam Qua’s study and adaption of Western painting

  ·The influence of reversed painting on the glass on Western culture

  Quantity of papers: 15 to 20 essays

  Word count:8000 English words

  Conference: Due to Covid-19, on-site conference participants reduced to less than ten people, and the rest researchers can participate online.

  Abstracts/Proposals (500 words) - due Friday 10th Sept 2021

  Confirmation of proposals - due Wednesday 10th November 2021

  Full manuscripts - due Sunday 15th May 2022

  Publication - due 1st November 2022
